What happens when control shows up in your romantic relationship? The truth is most of us resist being controlled though we may sometimes need it. Sometimes we try to control things that are out of our control. We find ourselves obsessing over things to the point of distraction. This isn’t just about living a carefree life —it’s about unapologetic self-direction, in a life full  of duty, rules, and responsibility that keep us from living freely. No longer living a life clinging to the things designed to disrupt my peace, joy instead I’m watering the simple things that matter - love & hope of brighter days.

Dually inspired by the global political climate of governments & capitalists controlling everyday people’s livelihood – wanting more control, laws disempowering women to make decisions about their own bodies, Haiti facing oppression & corruption, this song is a liberation anthem—joyful, defiant, spiritual, and grounded in ancestral rhythm. It’s not reckless. It’s intentional freedom.  

During my last trip to Haiti in 2020, I felt the need to write and record a song echoing the deep desire of Haitians to just live in a world, free of oppression.
